Maribel’s place was perfect for me and Maribel is the best host I have encountered on my many travels around the world. She is very sweet and exceptionally responsive. The apartment sits on the hill about 4 km above the village allowing for lovely views of the ocean from both the front porch and back balcony. The back balcony looks out over green pastures and hills dotted with cows and seabirds. Every morning I woke and stepped outside to listen to the distant sound of the surf and the morning call of the neighboring roosters as the sun climbed up over the hills. So very peaceful. There are 4 apartments in the building but I rarely heard any sound from other residents. Not only is the location peaceful and beautiful, it’s in what I consider the most gorgeous part of the island, very close to Furnas and the gorgeous mountains and waterfalls of eastern São Miguel. I was truly sad to leave. The apartment itself was cute, clean and had everything I needed for my stay. The bedroom has an amazingly large modern closet and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. I enjoyed my stay at Maribel’s place and hope to return again.
